The management training I received was given alarm codes, a set of keys, and told the Training Manager would be working with me extensively for the next 2 weeks.

The TM (I think the position has been deleted, or has it?) forged my signature to all sorts of papers and submitted them to the DM, who took them as gospel. Of course, that TM has now been promoted to DM for her "great job" and there's talk she might become my DM, meaning I'll be out in the job market because I will not work for someone so dishonest. The current DM, even if he is a horse's rump, is honest.

Of course, the DM is clueless about how to run a DG store, having come from a big box retailer and NEVER worked in a store like this, so he was worthless for getting advice. He doesn't even know how to log into a register!

I've heard rumors about a training school but the DM says we have to pay our expenses then get reimbursed. Well - anyone who's worked for DG for any length of time knows just how well THAT goes, and I refuse to invest that much money without having any clear idea of when, or if, I'll get it back.

Yup, there is one. When I went through it last year, it was four weeks, they put us up in a hotel, at company expense. They gave us a phone card to call home and (twice) a check for food. The only reimbursement was for gas, and that check was received within a month. We had classes for a week, then two weeks in the store, then one more week of classes.

The training has been chenged since then. It's only two weeks long and mostly (if not all) in the classroom. New managers are required to work in a store in their own district for at least two weeks prior to going to the store. I guess this gets the ones that will quit to do just that, prior to the company spending any extra money on them. Doh!

We refer to the school as DGU and it is a waste of time because they teach you nothing that can be used in the real world of retail. Doh!

Very Happy what can I say. Have a dm that says everything to everyone else except to me. What's with that!
Has anyone else won the instock bonus for the first quarter?
And is that for the mngrs only or are you suppose to split that with your assistant?
So who has had inventory and what is there to watch for?
Any help will be appreciated.
Is anyone in the same boat with the summer items that they are to be treated as christmas? Way to much and push push push!
And what about new hours for your store, heard any thing about that!
Don't forget MAY 21st is that day that your LAW SUIT paper work needs to be postmark!
Who's on board!
One other thing, this back door key business. Any discussion on that?
Yep sure having fun being the BITCH!

Currently (and at least for the last year, don't know about before that) the DM's go through the same DGU that the store managers do, side by side with the managers.

Yeah We have tons and tons of them too in fact we were told to take all non related summer toys off the shelves and replace them with summer toys. Doh!
That should help take the stockroom down a tad anyway. Rolling Eyes
