For those few of us still around, I'm just wondering how your stores are holding up as far as morale w/ workers these days. For about the past six months, i've noticed a severe decrease in employee morale. When I first started a few years ago, it was an enjoyable place to work. Now, we all come in and none of us want to be there or can hold up a positive attitude anymore. Even some of the MOD's let it be known they are fed up with conditions and don't want to be there. Our store has its own individual events that have happened, of course, but it seems as though a big part of the decrease is that there is so much pressure coming from upper mgt to our stores mgt and when we did try to push ICAPS, Care plans, etc we were getting no thanks or incentive or motivation in return....only a "get more!" in return. It gets old after a while.....i'm seriously thinking about leaving for another place soon. Sad

Morale is low in our store too. Some managers at my store I can't stand, and higher managment is probably giving them even more hell. My department manager is nice but my supervisor is always in a bad mood and will walk by sales associates like me without even saying hi. Even support & stock people are getting hell from their own meetings with the store manager and always seem to be angry. A couple of months ago, when hours really started getting cut and the store started hiring for Christmas help, corporate put the store on (maybe the entire district) a hiring freeze and couldn't hire people that were in the process. It is still pretty slow and this week I was cut 3 hours and it is CHRISTMAS TIME. A few weeks ago they cut me 9 HOURS. I agree, if I or the store beats the credit application goal, managers do not say that they appreciate our effort. They never tell us they appreciate our loyalty and effort working for the company with the bad economic times and the hours getting cut...

I have started a new job search a few months ago, but there isn't much out there. I'll have to hang in there until maybe the spring & summer when the economy gets better and more jobs are avaliable.
