Don't know if anyone's heard yet, but late last week we were issued another round of reductions to take...in my store it was about 2 FT associates...if you haven't heard yet you probably will soon, especially if your one of the associates who has to switch departments....
(no reductions will happen in malls with a closing Boscov's however, as Macy's has made a deal with them to have first shot at all their employees who will soon be without a job (in markets where there's not another Boscov's around for them to go to, like Baltimore) |

| Okay...so Macy's doesn't mind letting their OWN employees go, but they want to make sure that Boscov's employees don't go jobless? Where is the YOU COUNT in that? | |

Oh..........that would be the You Count for Boscovs employees. Did you really think the You Count in our motto meant that Macy's employees counted??? It's kinda like the customers being better customers than the employees. Thats why customers are getting the same discounts that employes get. |

The reductions rarely cause anyone to be let go (and if they do the associates get a severance package)...the Boscov's employees are going to fill open jobs...it is a positive thing, because not only are these stores not reducing, but they are filling their open jobs, which makes everyone's life easier (I'm sure everyone's been in a dept where there's a job open...it causes more work for everyone else to pick up the slack for the missing associate!) |

| Tragic yes - layoffs were a given because of "cost cutting synergies between the 2 companies" - How many thousands of employees have lost their jobs since Goody's, Steve & Barry's, Mervyn's, and Boscov's have filed bankruptcy? | |
