MA, we have an International Truck assembly plant not far from my warehouse. They build pick-ups there as well. That Ford is nothing compared to what I've seen coming out of that plant.

but
those are used for - say - construction work? farming?
this rig is apparently an attempt at 'street legal'
and we wonder why gas is approaching 3.50 a gallon.

Yep. An extremely extreme version of the "I've got mine, $#%! you!" syndrome wherein those who can't afford $3.50 a gallon to get back and forth to work have to anyway because of the ones that can afford it and insist on hauling their kids to school in the biggest honking SUV or 4-Dr pickup they can lay their hands on.

i simply cannot abide those ginormous SUVs or the twits who drive them
100 lb Polly Soccer Mom and her Excursion with 3 screaming brats are a road menace
add the DVD system, a cell phone and what not and its amazing more people are not crushed by these monuments to conspicuous consumption.

I am not kidding MA... I'm a professional pedestrian since I had my stroke and they took away my driver's license... it the past three years I've been actually hit in crosswalks while crossing WITH the light by three of your Polly Soccer Mom types, one in an Excursion, one in a Navigator and one in an Escalade.
All of them making right turns on red lights without stopping to clear traffic and two of the three yammering on the phone at the time. No real injuries yet (knock on wood).

Nope. I'm talking about people who have $200,000 to spend on a PICK-UP truck and want to be macho statement about it. BTW, diesel is about $4 a gallon down here.

Come on now... I got a 2000 GMC Sonoma with a 6 inch suspension lift, 2 inch body lift (plus 2 inch drop shackles in the back), and 35" tires. I took out the stock motor and dropped in a 350 with all the trimmings courtesy of Edelbrock. (one hell of a job). The rear axle is a Dana 44 and I replaced the independent front suspension with a Dana 44, too. I'm thinking of adding a turbo or a supercharger this summer. I get 11 miles to the gallon.
Some people go to the theater, some people play sports, some people build trucks. Don't hate.
Side note: A guy in town has an F650 pickup in banana yellow. I got my picture taken with it. It's indeed completely ridiculous. I'm a little jealous

You'd have to have some money for some of these "toys". Gas prices the way they are, I'd hate to see their gas bills.

Well, if you could afford the F650 or International CXT in the first place, I don't think gas is much of a concern.

Pretty sure Hummers are still in production. They're new lineup may be a tad smaller, but certainly going strong.

Ask him where he parks the thing and I bet you he'll say "Anywhere I want." Hahaha!
I'm not a truck guy but I can appreciate enthusiasts. I'd rather trade the lower mpg for higher mph. To each their own.
