What can be done when a manager is allowing certain associates to be scheduled only during busy hours. Knowing this will upset the rest of us he is still accomodating them. Does calling the 8assist number actually help? I've heard that it is not always kept confidential. No one wants to be the one on the bad side. Especially with this points system!

There is not much that you can do by yourslef. That is why i try an educate people on creating a union. We need something to protect ourselves, and to give us a renewed since of pride in our work knowing that we cant be fired in an instant. The problem is this. You approach your manager and say "why do i never get time to work on busy hours" then they could sell well "you are not available enough you dont sell credit yadda yadda yadda" so now you have made them aware of what they are doing and they could hold a grudge and take it personally or on the other hand they could say "ya your right wanna work more of those hours" Not all managers are bad and not all managers are good but when people are generally given too much power they have not always done the best with their power. Remember this we are only as strong as our weakest link and to make a strong link we need everyone involved. Read posts on this site, get involved and be informed and never let them intimidate you.

Can you give some more detail on your complaint?

the best performers are supposed to get the "best" shifts. it's in sears best interests to put their top dogs where they can be the most effective. if this is not what's happening, if the people have crap numbers, then you have a problem.

If given gravy hours from day one over a time period that persons numbers will look great. If given the same treatment, others would do the same or better.

Now if another associate decides he doesnt like the situation and requests the same and gets his way obviously others will suffer.

Not all are being honored their requests. Others are being told to work what they are scheduled. Favoritism is obvious.

Also, a part-time should not be scheduled as many (sometimes more) than an FTA. (It's great for sears because they are not paying for benefits) All FTA's hours have been knocked down to 29-30 hrs. Why is P/T receiving 30 hrs? I could go on and on.There is so much animosity in the dept. Its depressing to go to work. The results will probably be that no request will be granted at all unless its vacation.

I agree with what you said about part-time hours vs. fta/ft40 hours, however, if an associate can not perform during slow times, that associate will not improve during busy times. When you are not hardpressed to get to the next customer, you have more time and opportunity to present the PA/MRA/RA. The idea is to give the struggling associate an opportunity to show an improvement. If you are only selling 5 or 6 large items/day instead of 10 or 12, a few dollars in PA's will go a lot further in improving your year-to-date goal. And quite frankly, if I am doing my job well, I deserve to have some sort of financial recognition for it. For commission sales associates, the only thing we got is the better shifts since we don't get raises.

I agree. There should be some reward for years of hard work and dedicated service.
