Had a vendor rep tell me today that all Texas Expos except the Galleria Dallas to be closed down. Anyone else heard the rumor?

In today's Dallas Morning News -
"Home Depot Inc. said Tuesday that it will close almost a third of its Expo home decor stores, including 4 in Texas.
Only the original Expo location north of the Dallas Galleria shopping center survived the cuts in Texas.
In all,15 Expo stores will shut down by the end of the year and 5 others will be converted to Home Depots. The closings affect 2,000 employees nationwide."

I was in one of the Texas stores from July 2003 until Jan 2004.
I tell people I came, I saw, I walked away. The whole setup looked pretty shaky to me. My observation was that the whole thing was extremely top heavy, upper management was full of themselves and customer service was dead last as far as priorities. Managers were always tied up in meetings or doing umpteen thousand floor moves. Merchandising was a joke. Appliance displays were old and outdated. Antiquated methods and lack of technology made it hard to do business. Everything could be solved with yet another 'system'. I love it when I get to say "I told you so".
