We were just told by a very reliable source that 3/57 would be going hourly sometime in September, just like Canada !

Is this really true? Or just more hot air I see on these pages. Do you have proof to back that statement up with?

Hey, is there anyone out there from Sears Canada that can tell us how your 3/57 dept. hourly pay structure is working out for you ?
Do you get any spiffs or commissions for selling PA's, MRA's or any other types of merchandise.
Maybe you could help us all out here in the good old USA by letting us know what to expect !
Thanks

. no one knows how to contact a substantial union to make the effort to ge the ball rolling. no all we hear is union. your pay is going the way of the dodo bird and you dont care enough to leave the forum and get some answers. no it is talk awhat is a union. can anyone tell me what it is. we have been discussing it for a year. no one knows how to form onend more talk. i know its not my place to say this. i am just as guilty as all of you. but i do not work for sears no longer. and i just have to lash out sometimes wondering if anyone here is just talking or thinking about what they say. if you think about it hard enough maybe you will get mad enough and say i am tired of being stamped on and i want to do something to stop sears.. maybe it wont but unless you try you wont know will you.

Sears must cut the fat to compete with the Best Buys of the world. It's go hourly soon or die for 3/57. Look what happened to our computer business!

THANK GOD!!! Maybe we'll sell some now, however people already know we're dead. It's going to take some heavy ads to bring it back.

it seems as though sears just does not want to compete in the electronics sector...they want to keep it there for filler space

at this point i don't think they can compete. most retail stores can't compete with all the cheap dell computers you always see advertised on tv.

What fat are you referring - the stores are operating overly lean - the only fat I see is what it takes to support Hoffman - Footie, what are the numbers for Hoffman employees? - what was it last year and what is it currently?

The fat I'm referring to is the commissions paid to the consultative salespeople. I was pulling 15-20 dollars an hour when I was in Division 3, about three years ago. That's in comparison to Best Buy paying around six dollars an hour. How can we possibly compete with that kind of overhead. You're right, there's lots of fat in hoffman too.

I would love to see what would happen if 57 video went
$6-$10 per hour. You think sales are down now wait and see how many plasmas and HDTV's get closed or sold right by some kid who doesn't give a damn if they sell a thing. Div 57 sales are down because most stores I have seen don't have salesmen, they have clerks or people who just sell stuff at any price. I had a customer come in to my store for exchange and a local sears sold them a sony cam # 58853 for $299.99 Thats not selling thats stealing. In the past that was called an underring but with sears insane match any price mentallity its not even investigated. We need sales professionals who KNOW how to sell for PROFIT. Sales without profit means sears goes away sooner than later. Why there isn't a means for the system to control how low a price is cut I'll never understand. Sears should set it up so that if you go below a certain price on a item you make ZERO comission on it. See how many prices are cut when these idiots out there start getting zero comission on the stuff they GIVE away. Take care

I love your idea of a zero commission when a price is reduced below a certain point. As it stands, the folks in 57 are slashing prices to "make deals" for customers for the sake of getting some commission rather than walking an unwilling customer. When AP is notified of this, the SGM will refuse to fire the person if they perform well in MPAs, MRAs, or Credit. However, if it's someone who is weak in performance, they are pushed out immediately! Why can't our SGMs be ethical???

Hey apguy...how would you like it if the known theft expenses were taken out of your pay????? How long would you work for nothing????? If it is a legitimate price match then butt out! Fraud is different......After many years at this company I have seen many corrupt sales people and many ap associates that think they are the companys avenging angel......there is not one AP person in my store with more than 14 months of service!!! They seem to be decent but totally clueless on the business of retail......

I sure do not miss Electronics when I hear this. Alot of the problem is that they are kids, the kids use to come in and literally tell me customers I will give you that laptop for such and such, pull up reconditioned computer websites and price match. THis has been going on for years, Management turned cheeks just to keep bodies on the floor. Or they would rering my sales for lower prices in their numbers even on Sears Exclusive models. I loved working in electronics just could not take this stuff anymore. It was like beating your head against a wall everyday working with HS kids

Well, bodyguard, I gurantee I have far more than 14 months of service at Sears. I can also gurantee you that I know how to run a business, quite successfully. Another thing I can gurantee you is that I KNOW what a legit pricematch is!!! Maybe you haven't read my previous posts, but I come from division 57 and have seen EXACTLY what goes on there. Lowmorale has it correct when he says that kids work there. As for sales going down when no one is paid commission -- bull. Best Buy is whipping our butts quite thouroughly. My suggestion is that you get a clue, bodyguard, before you lash out with an attack.

th reason best buy is whupping our butts is that all of their displays work, while our just seem dead...there store looks a lot cleaner and neater than any sears electronics i've seen, even with a remodel...there everyday REGULAR prices are lower than our SALE prices are...and most of all, they almost NEVER have an instock problem, and if they do, they have a "hot" phone that they pick up and get immediately connected to a buyer...THEY ALWAYS HAVE MERCHANDISE IN STOCK, WHEN OUR CRAP IS NOT IN STOCK AND BACKORDERED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS!!!

You were talking about making 0 commissions if something gets sold below a certain price....so you get a clue.

As promised yesterday, here's the skinny ...
Electronics in Canada has, as you all know, gone hourly. Rate ranges from $12 to $16 (Canadian, remember). Employees who remained after the transformation are mostly in the $15-$16 range.
Maintenance Agreements (MA's) still pay 10%. Aparently there is a small monetary bonus after a certain MA volume is reached. I don't know the exact number yet. That bonus is only on MA volume, not on product volume.
Edit: The associates that did end up staying behind will not be there too long. They are all cursing Sears right now, because Sears is, in desperation, hiring anybody and everybody off the street and making the established associates train the new troops.

From my experience, the AP guys in my old stores seemed to be more interested in "sniffing around" the female associates than they were preventing losses.
Anyone else have that happen in their stores?

We were spoiled in our store we had one of the best probably in the whole district. He left four years ago, he is in a very ugly district but I am sure he love the excitement. I keep in touch with him, he has employees stealing each other cars, everything else. Now we just get wanna be cops. They are hard to find good AP the pay is very low.
