I've been bitten by a spider. So, I'm home and I'm gonna watch a soap opera. Wow, the woman from Knot's Landing is on this one! I have not watched a soap opera in 20 years. I've never been bitten by a spider like this. Small bruises but this has my neck swelled. Wow, soaps have naked men on them. Sorry, the young and the restless. I'm old and rested.

Yup, there's a tingling and a smile. I think we should ALL watch soap operas.

I used to watch Y&R religiously during summer vacation. Not something I'm terribly proud of but... Lauren's teeth, more specifically the way her upper lip never moved when she spoke, used to fascinate me.

Having just visited a Y&R site for the first time ever, I am somewhat saddened to announce that I am familiar with at least 10 years of the programs plot: 1986-96.

Scarier still is the faint memory of a Soap called "The Edge of Night".

Shit, I may have discovered why I'm such a drama queen sometimes. Doh!

I'm afraid I've got you beat.

I remember the episode that "Laura" arrived in Port Charles.
I remember the episodes that first featured the Webers.
Hell, I remember when the hospital set (that's not plural) was a nurse's desk with a room to the side of it where the nurses always went when the doctors ordered drugs.

And thanks to Soapnet, I still watch the damn thing. Doh!

And, yes, I remember the Edge of Night. I watched it too Rolling Eyes

Do you remember Laura was raped by Luke and we were supposed to forget that?

Well, I must be really old because I remember way back before Luck & Laura on "General Hospital". Dr. Steve Hardy was the big male star. His wife was Nurse Audry and she had a sister who was also a Nurse at the hospital (Lucille). Yep those were the good old days when nurses wore white dresses, stockings, and hats too. Wink

I vaguely remember Luke and Laura's romance too. Moreso from the pages of TV Guide than from actually watching the show I suspect.

I blame Bob Barker for my soap memories as my day usually started with the Price is Right which was immediately followed by Y&R then the Noon News Hour then Another World then General Hospital.

gg Bob.

Let me guess:

After contracting a terminal blood disease from a patient at the hospital, Audry came under the care of her own husband, Dr. Steve.

As Audry's impending death reached ever closer, Steve's depression deepened and Lucille became more and more distraught.

Steve and Lucille began to take comfort in each others company and after many weeks of mutual caregiving their comfort culminated in one night of unbridled passion in which Lucille became pregnant with Dr. Steve's baby.

Fearing Dr. Steve's reaction to the pregnancy, Lucille kept it a secret, skipped town and found work at an advertising agency in Los Angeles.

A few months later, having discovered a potential cure for Audrey's disease in the jungles of Borneo, Dr. Steve returned to Audrey's bedside only to find that her condition had worsened and that her death was imminent.

Upon hearing the news, Lucille, now 5 months pregnant, returned to Port Charles and...
