How come I don't see you signing up people to help out there?

Kanaka - charity begins at home - I will volunteer my time and gladly donate any of what little knowledge I have - I will clean toilets, clean gutters, sweep manure out of the stall and the sty - I will never give money to any organization where salaries to presidents, directors, organizers, etc. garners them many times more than the President of the United States for their volunteerism - the people who sit in these chairs are already rich beyond compare - these are the people who should be the philanthropists - those people who live daily with their terrible unfortunate circumstances have their own country/government to look to for their dire misfortune - yes, America throws money at these governments - but it is not us spending these funds - they have leaders living lives better than our own government head and yet you can not turn in any direction in many of these countries and not see squalor, disease, and poverty - it is enough to see the dismal conditions in our own country - but here is the link for employment opportunities with the World Health Organization for all who wish visit this site to see if they have the interest or desire to apply - http://www.who.int/employment/en/ - I am sorry if I am a burr under your saddle - I have no ill feelings towards you or anyone here - I have had my eyes boxed more than once here - I will duck for cover now

http://www.un.org/Depts/OHRM/salaries_allowances/salaries/salaryscale/professional/pr.xls
- a look at the compensation for different positions in different areas for the Professional or Higher categories - these are starting salaries given those humans who are serving for the betterment of the less fortunate

http://www.who.int/employment/contracts/ftg/en/
this is the compensation for the General Service and Related categories - Salaries are established in accordance with prevailing practices in the local labour market. - what does that mean? - if everyone in the village makes .50/hr - you, too, will live the same - guess you have to count on your friends and family for care packages

my opinion is: the world has many well educated, wealthy "Professionals" - why don't they truly volunteer themselves with no compensation, their salaries can now be spent to dispense medical needs, feed, clothe, house, and educate - these funds would make the efforts of the General Service and Related category (the laborers) faster and easier to achieve - WHO assignments are for 1, possibly 2, years - Professionals are almost always behind the scenes - they wouldn't even have to see or interact with the people they are helping

when did the definition for volunteer change?
