How many of you have kept track of your sales and compared them against the old? Have any been ahead or have all been down like in our store about 25%? Just would like some feedback on this sweettalking move. DId everyone else have the new commisison dropped at the end of the meeting? Did you all catch the word target dollar that means what the company thinks that you should make not to raise the bar what they think you should make. If you go on the intranet it was lowered not brought up

Check your commission sheets and make sure you even received your commission. We checked ours for several pay periods back and found we were paid 0%, 1% instead of 6, etc..

I saved June's commission sheets to compare, but they got thrown away during the remodel. It doesn't do any good to check anyway since there ain't a damn thing I can do about it! I'll just check my average commission rate on future week's sheets compared to past ones. LM, what did you mean the commission was dropped at the end of the meeting? And where did you see the target rates on the intranet?
Off the subject:
Folks, this is only going to work if we get the traffic back that has disappeared in the last couple of years (not so far). And, if we really do keep some branded in stock merchandise-not just Kenmore (not so far). And if we can deliver within 48 hours (not so far). And if, when we order something it would come when promised (lost a few big ones lately due to that problem). And if we can keep our top sales people from leaving (so far, so good).
That's a lot of if's.
I'm giving it a chance. We are down right now because we are in the middle of a major remodel. I hope the business comes back.
Something I should mention. We are in an area where Lowe's is our only major competitor. For those of you with Best Buy, Circuit City, Home Depot, etc., you've got more of a challenge. A customer told me that when Home Depot orders something they can get it the next day. Is this true?
Good Luck to all of us. We're gonna need it.

Home Depot really only offers alot of GE but not much variety. We are killed in our area by independent stores. If you are down and out they will load a truck right their, and follow you home. THey also have a very aggresive price match policy. Just go to search and type in Target Earnings and pull up I believe it was May third. They were unreal!!! They have us down so far!! Circuit City got out of the appliance business, and Menards is coming on strong again very limited brands lots of Maytag and Amanda. We have yet to have a Lowes right in the area but we have two Great Indoors too. They do not from what our customes say have any very good sales professionals. I think alot of changes will be coming by August first in all stores with management. We just finished our remodel, it was a mess! I to think this has a huge effect on business.

My sister worked in a bank for 20 years. She told me that if Sears is trying to sell what is supposed to be their main income (Credit dept) they must be in real trouble. Some of the old timers in a local store near us have sold their stock. Another frined has a sister-in-law who works at Hoffman Estates, and she is worried about her pension..
Are things THAT bad??

I just checked my statement. My benefit rate went up about .60. My effective commission rate was 4.03. Last paycheck it was 4.55, and on one in June it was 4.03. But, my sales were down due to lack of customers.

Down and down it goes. My paycheck just gets smaller every time. The small hike in the low end does not make up for the cut in the high end because we still don't have enough customers. Sad to say, but this is not looking good from where I stand.

I don't work in 20, I work in 6/71 but still, when I heard they were lowering the higher end commissions and raising the lower end, I thought the only person that benefits is the "poor" sales guy who can't talk a customer up.. the person who can talk 'em up to something worthy, which is easier to do in that part of the store then in 6/71, that is the person that gets the short end of the stick.. they put opening price point products in the paper for a reason.. I hate when they always advertise "the cheap stuff" but its really your job to try and talk them up.. by doing different methods of selling.. such as starting at the top or middle of the road (if they only want cheap) and going down to the low price point to show the customer what they really are losing.. now for this type of salesman, they aren't going to benefit from this.. it benefits the lazy salesman or newbie who either doesn't care, or doesn't have much experience and just sells the customer anything without filling them in on features and benefits.. You sell a product that cost 1000 that you formerly got 7% on.. thats 70.. now say you get 4.5%.. 25 bucks out on that sale.. Now you sell 3 products that are $200 that you formerly got 1 percent on.. that you get 3 on now.. instead of totally $6 bucks commission formerly on these (200 bucks a piece x 3 of them = 600 bucks = 1% = 6 bucks) you now get 3 times 6 bucks = 18.. thats 12.. so you lose 25 bucks PER big 1000 sale in this example.. but you gain 12 bucks on 3 - $200 sales (2 bucks a piece).. Now who really is benefiting from this.. but of course the people at the top are corporate robots that are brainwashed to try and make you feel that this really is better for you.. really just more bonuses for the guys at the top.. I suppose if you live in a really "poor" area where people only buy the cheap stuff then I guess this benefits you.. but thats probably only a handful of Sears stores in the nation...
