I am currently updating my resume. In my old one, I listed that I received two awards for 2007. These were given to me last year. I did not receive any awards this year due to a mess management made this year. Should I remove the fact that I received recognition? And if I keep it, how do I mention why I received nothing this year due to something that was completely not my fault?

Congrats on the awards, but do they put green $$$ in your pocket? I think the only reason why we're recognised so they don't have to give us a raise.

Unless you've improved yourself by getting a degree of sorts, I wouldn't mention the Macy's awards. Education goes a lot further.

I agree with you. The main reason I placed it was because some career sites mention to post any awards received, even if it is employee of the month. I know that even though Star Academy can be a ripoff at times, it is something easily found online as to what it is, which was an incentive in placing it. In the latest case, I am seriously considering removing it altogether.

really ?? now see, i would include it. DEPENDING on where you are applying. if/when you get the interview, you can explain what it is if asked.

it always looks good cuz it shows you have great customer service skills which most places are looking for no matter where you apply.

but that's me. Smile

Okay. In the worst case scenario I will make two resumes: one with the awars mentioned, and one without.

My main dilemma is that I did not receive any awards for 2008 on account of lousy management, and it looks weird mentioning a 2007 award. I received a new manager fall 2008. Before that, I was under the group manager and the operations managers. When it came time for the annual reviews, my manager (who is an MTM and over the operations managers) gave them the responsibility to give our reviews as a way to be fair due to her lack of time as MTM. The two operations managers have everyone an ME rating, which is a major step down from our EE and HEE ratings last year. How can I explain that on paper/interview without bashing the company?

Lie and say they didn't do the awards after 2007. I don't think it will be questioned anyway.

I don't really think that they will check to see if Macy's gave you awards. Now that I think of it...I'm going to put on my resume that I got Star Academy every year, and had the highest sales/credit in the entire company!

I did it once on one of resumes Because MF had similar awards..I wasnt going for retail..but office hence it really wasnt good..For I went to a real HEAD HUNTER..they told me what to put on it and what shouldnt..so it really depends if you are staying in customer service..
