when i was at work today a newbie told me that she asked a manager for change... and she needed dimes. he told her we won't be getting dimes anymore. she was like, "you're kidding me, right ? " as she is telling me this, i start laughing cuz i knew this was coming over a month ago.

she thought it was the most ridiculous thing she ever heard. the people i have told thought it is the most bizarre thing they have ever heard. they are all like, "WTF ??? "

mark my words... macy's is gonna be the laughing stock when this gets out. customers will laugh themselves right out of the store. just what they need. to get weighed down even more cuz when they are supposed to get back change like 15 cents, they are gonna get loaded down now with THREE nickels. oh, they are gonna love that. i can hear the comments already.

i've got a great idea for the next CHANGE. NO MORE REAL MONEY USED. EVER. NO SIREE, MACY'S WILL NOW ONLY TAKE CREDIT CARDS AND OF COURSE THEIR OWN MACY'S REWARDS CHARGE CARDS. no more money at all.

oh geez, now i feel bad for the Brinks guy who comes in every day to make deposits/pick up money at the cash vault. nice, macy's. put another guy out of a job.

but not to worry, i'm sure macy's would hire him at minimum wage to take crap all day with management and a few customers. Rock on!

Yesterday my SM was going on and on about how much it costs macy's to get change for us from the bank. Well if you want to sell stuff, you gotta be able to make change!

MyMacy's has been around my store for over a year. In that time, my department has been through four specialists -- they keep quitting the company. The new one started last month and looks totally in over her head.

Poor dear.

The whole "making change" process has changed about ten times in the last nine months. What the hell is going on? And can someone offer some kind of remotely rational explanation for getting rid of dimes from the register drawer?

I'm totally dumbfounded at this news.

By the way, we still have dimes here. This week, that is.

i think management thinks they take up too much room .

HELLOOO . MCFLY !!!!!

the nickels take up much more room and are twice as heavy (at least) than the nickels.

one day the gsm's said they don't get change anymore. the cash vault ladies get a readout (WHAAAAAAT ???) as to what each register needs.

really ?? that's news to me. anyway, the very next and since then, the managers are getiing change again. sigh.

so dumb, since you have to have twice as many nickles, AND they're bigger, AND heavier, AND did I mention that you have to have twice as many of them?????

i told a friend about the nickels.. he laughed so hard, he bruised his spleen.

macy's will be the laughing stock when this gets out.

and my poor little dime section is lonely in both my registers. hope some customers help me fill it.
i had to give a guy FOUR nickels yesterday. i cannot wait for the comments from the customers. i'll tell em the new policy, no problem. i'll also tell them to go to macys.com/tellus if they don't like it.
hee. let corporate see how stupid the company is. Thumbs Up

This has been Macy's policy for years. We heard the rumor back in '05 that Macy's didn't use dimes. It's just trickling down to the step children now.
