if they can close at least 50 underperforming stores, then maybe they can veer off the path of bankrupcy. They need to restructure more and stop spending so much money on advertising.

They need to reduce management and INCREASE sales support. Sales associates don't cost much, and you can't get money into the cash register without them!

I don't think they are going to file for bankrupcy. There store price is up. And there stock is a buy rating.

Yesterday, several analysts, including Moody's, changed Macy's stock rating from "hold" to "buy".

That's good news, but in light of Audit Integrity's article last week, it's confusing. Macy's still has racked up a lot of debt and hasn't made great strides in paying it down. Sluggish retail sales for everyone aren't helping, either.

So mark this prediction: You think things are crazy promotional now. Just wait until the holiday season hits full force. You won't have seen anything like it before -- sales within sales, discounts on top of BOGO tied with ten-to-spend deals. We'll all be drowning in a sea of red-starred coupons.

Just watch.

Macy's stock price is up almost $13.00 in recent weeks.
I don't see it happening.

They need to keep advertising at normal level - but quit having a three day one day sales.

Macy's stock closed at 18.43 today. Thats the highest it's been in a long time. Wish I'd bought some stock now.

Yowzers! Fortunately for me I live on a hill. My driveway washed out and needs repairing, but I'm safe. It's not been that well for others. A lot of the area around me flooded and up in Chattanooga they've had some problems.

I was in Atlanta on Monday for my hockey game - which wound up being canceled - and got stuck on I-575 which wound up being closed back toward Atlanta because of flooding. I got off on 92 to Roswell and had to get back on I-575 because 92 was flooded, so was the next exit!

I went to Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday and it was wet, but they showed a picture of the park Monday Night and it was under water.

It has been awful, I've never seen it this bad.
