Extended associate allocation - This program is designed to allow associates to work beyond your normal hours between the week before christmas and the week after christmas.
They are not hiring that many holiday hires this year because they company will save money on training and they don't know the merchandise as well as the full timers/part timers as of this moment.
So, the company decided to let associates pick up extra hours and get paid the "OVERTIME" rate. This is a great way for associates to make extra money.
Beware, if you do commit to the extra hours and you do not show up, you will get points on your record.
You are suppose to have a one-on-one talk with your manager regarding this.

Will any hours above your regular amount of hours be OT, or does it have to be over 40 hrs?

yes....this is very important and if you commit to the hours, you must work them.
according to last month's webinar, the holiday hiring for the stores will be based on how many associates sign up for extra hours.
this should be completed by october 1st.
macy insider...it is not located on insite yet?? do you know when it will?? after they are finished with the people soft upgrade??

our manager came to us today for the extra hours. if we want, FT employees can work up to 60 hrs. (6 10hr. shifts) This is only for the week before Christmas and the week after Christmas. (Dec. 13th -19th & Dec 20th-26th)
wow, I wanted to attached the document, but this board doesn't allow attachments.
p.s. My manager hates this forum. she's never been on it, but I don't think she likes the fact that I get information before her.

"i don't want one minute more of extra time". she's like, ok, ok. just sign here. i said are you gonna put down no? and she says... there is no place that says no. i'll put it down for you.
do i have stupid written across my forehead? i put in big letters NO right next to my name.

Don't try to back out now, Normarae! You signed up for ONE extra hour and now you MUST work that one extra hour, or it's going on your RECORD!
On my sheet, there was a box to check that said NO, I do not want to work more than my regualar hours...you know I checked it!

I'm going to ask if there's an option. I'm sure when the week is posted, there will be some open shifts throughout the store to pick up for extra hours.

The purpose of the "survey" is to find out how many associates are willing to work extra hours so that stores can figure out how much holiday help to hire.
I actually think it's a good idea. People that want to work more will get a chance to make more money, and people that don't want to work more don't have to.
It's nice that they are giving us an option this time, instead of just scheduling us for tons of hours against our wishes, like has happened in the past. I'm part time b/c I want to be part time!

as usual my manager shoves these forms in front of me so fast, i NEVER have a chance to read them. i couldn't find the box cuz it was so fast, but i tried. i really did.

That makes a lot more sense than hiring a bunch of people your just going to fire a few months from now.
NO? NO? You telling me NO? NORMARAE???????
Well...
NO means Ninety-One Hours per week and you have to be there because I'll chain you to the register!

Anyone wanting to sign up for extra holiday hours, be sure you know what you are getting into. If you look at the "Sample Schedule", you will see that a 12 hour shift only gets you 10 hours! This means that you will be taking 2 one hour meal breaks.

not to worry, kids. if you don't sign up for the extra hours, there will be plenty of opportunites to pick up extra hours at that time. no problemo.
