I work at Lowe's and see posts from Lowe's but none ever from Wal-Mart. My son works there and surely someone from some Wal-Mart logs on this site. The all can't be catatonic to the goings on at Wal-Mart. And I hope some have a computer and go online.

It could be fear
it could be they are unaware
it could be they are complacent
it could be they are unconcerned

your son might want to print out pieces of paper with the address of the site on it and leave them lying about everywhere he travels - something like:

WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE COMPETITION OR EVEN YOUR CO-WORKERS THINK! - VISIT WWW.RETAIL-WORKER.COM

but make sure he does this incognito - tell him not to expose himself to any of his co-workers - I bet within the week there will be an memo to the employees that distributing information or contributing to websites is grounds for termination

... or it could be that they already have well established, dedicated community elsewhere.

I am a Walmart employee, cashier to be exact. I've been there for about 2 months now. I have to say my biggest complaint is that the hours and the pay is crap. You'd think the biggest retail chain in the world could afford to pay their employees a little better.

It appears that this (forum.walmartsucks.com and/or www.walmartsucks.com) forum was discontinued. www.walmart-blows.com appears growing stronger every day, however. Funny how I am unable to find such similar deep interest in the going ons at Sears, Target, and Shopko outside of our beautiful forum here. (I still remain in support of adding a Walmart forum to retail-worker in spite of the existence of walmartblows.com; it would make us well-rounded.)

I would be very interested in a Walmart forum on his site. I am thinking about applying at the Super Walmart we're supposed to be getting, so it would be nice to get the inside scoop ahead of time.

Create it and they will come....

I have often wondered - why have "Rona" (whatever that is) and not Wal-Mart? or for that matter, why not Best Buy?

Two businesses put under by Wal-Mart. Schwinn Bicycles., and Vlasic Pickles.

I would love to hear from these Retail workers. The business itself? Not.

At the very least, a Walmart forum on retail-worker.com would generate 10x the discussion that the JC Penney forum receives. The last contribution made on the JC Penney page (http://www.retail-worker.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=2eab1950edcbb442d95f1b2831b42041) is almost a year old (dated July 19, 2007).

Am I mixing it up with one of the other forums or didn't we have a Walmart board here early on that never got anything posted on it? I remember trying to get friends of mine who were Walmart employees to post and they wouldn't do it.

Whichever forum it was, the board existed and was roundly ignored by Walmart employees for at least a year or two.

In any event, the above posts from a couple of years ago are probably good illustrations as to why it no longer exists if it ever did or why it never did if it didn't.

As for generating posts simply by creating a board ... there are other boards here who haven't had a post by actual employees in forever. The last post on the Circuit City board was by a Sears employee as was the onlyone before it which was two and a half years or so ago.

If indeed a Wallie Mart forum existed on this site previously, and it received no action, then it would prove a mute point of bringing it back. (Perhaps a requirement for being a Wal-Mart employee is that (s)he must be introverted, which is the near opposite of the make-up of Sears employees whom freely voice their (anonymous) opinions on retail-worker.com?)
I remain an advocate, though, of cleaning up this site. The JC Penney and Staples forums, in particular, receive no attention whatsoever by their respective employees (or any interested parties). Does Kohl's have a forum anywhere? If not, perhaps we can exchange Staples for Kohl's and see what traction comes from it?
It's just a thought... Smile

The Macy's board is an example of how it's been done here in the past. When the other RW (without the "-") shut down, the Macy's folks were left high and dry. A couple came to check on maybe getting a forum here and were told that if there was enough interest in one, it would come to pass.

Those folks brought friends and besieged sleK and they got their board and it's become probably the second most busy message board on the forum.

I can't speak for admin but just guessing I'd bet that that if enough Kohl's employees expressed an interest in having a board here it would be done. It would then be up to the members to support it, just like the Macy's folks have.
