From what I have heard........
Always customer service questions.......
Always how will you drive the business.....
Always where do you see yourself in 3-5 years.....
Always how do you hire and keep good employees....
Thats about it. But zone manager is a high turnover position, usually last about 6-9 months, then move on or up or out.

Looks like this forum died. But I'm new here so thought I'd reply anyhooo.
There are 5 structured questions on the Zone manager interview. The store manager and whoever else they have doing the interview shouldn't stray from this format.
Of course it's a lousy way to pick good managers, but it keeps us from being sued.
I can probably remember the questions if anyone is interested, But I haven't had caffeine yet so I only have about 1/2 a brain. javascript:emoticon(' ')
Cool

congrats on taking your test. However you will be short lived at lowes in this position. Lowes likes to blow their noses with zone managers. This position has a higher turn over than loaders and cashiers.
Lowes uses zone managers to wipe their ass with at the store level. If your job is done but the district/regional manager has had a bad day/morning you will surely lose your job just because something was misplaced.
You will be no better than the people under you.
You job will soley rely on the people you have underneath you.
What better way to work each day but to be stressed out by others not doing their job and you losing yours while they stay if things are not done.
And better yet you don't get to choose your people under you. Your store manager decides this.
As I was saying congrats. The reason is this and very simple. The zone manager position is your ticket out of the store. And as everyone knows I do not like lowes period.
Congrats! Let us know how you do on your next job. Keep in touch!

I have posted a reply below that I wish to reply to.
First of all you're making several assumptions about me, some of which I can see where you got them and some I cannot. You assume because I'm new to this forum that I am new to Lowe's and/or to retailing. You assume that because I mentioning having gone through the Zone interview that was my current job. And you assume that everyone has the same abilities, situation and surroundings that you have. None of these things are true.
I would recommend you seek therapy to deal with this free floating anger that you are currently choosing to direct at your former employer and people who choose to work there.

Just stating an opinion. If you don't like my response no hard feelings. I feel like I do because of the shit I saw while there.
You will only be as good as the staff you have under you as a zone manager. and from the quality of some (not all employees) people you will be brought down fast.
Seriously best of luck. Its not for me. retail sucks.

Lowes won't pay for the bullshit I dealt with. If you got a problem with my anger ignore it. Otherwise this is an open forum. Anyone can discuss anything. I do not appreciate you tell me to go to therapy. You don't know me..You dont know what i went through.
Administrators. Please seek action against this post. I was told to get therapy!

In the words of a golfer. When you are hired at lowes you are given a big handicap.
hahahahaha
It isn't finally some accuracy. It has always been acurate. I tell it as i see it. I don't sugar coat the posts.

Once you believe in something it is hard to make you think otherwise if its true or not.
Say someone comes to you and says your spouse is cheating.....They have proof...You would have a hard time believing.
Same thing with lowes. Brainwashing at its best.
And thats some accuracy for you also

Your false assumption is that you know anything about me. I am a very skeptical person. I know what Lowe's is. Lowe's is a corporation whose purpose on Earth is to make as much money as possible. Everything that Lowe's does has that purpose as it's foundation. The same is true of any other for-profit business. I know this and I understand how it affects me. Does Lowe's have problems that can and should be worked on? Yes, or course. Is Lowe's the best place to work? No, it's not. It is, however, the job I currently have and I intend to make the best of it that I can. You see, I am much like the for-profit business. The reason I work is to make money. Everything I do at work has that purpose as it's foundation. I do the best job I can at work because that improves my position. The managers at my store like the work I do, and that improves my position as well. I can make more money by getting promoted and I need the managers in my corner in order to make that happen. Eventually, I will be moving to another job. I want to have good references for my next employer. It's all about me.
Life is too short and valuable to spend it pissed off at the world all the time like you do. I know your type. I saw plenty of them during my 20 years in the military. Supervisors and management can do nothing to make you happy. There is always something to complain about and complain about it you do. If only you could turn your constant whining and crying into a little positive energy, you and your type could change the world. But you don't because then you would have nothing to complain about.
You have no credibility with me. As one other member already pointed out, you change your story to support whatever argument you have. You go into the store and management hides from you, then in the next breath the managers are begging you to come back. You also claim you left Lowe's and are now making 6 figures. What a bunch of crap. Do you really expect anyone here to believe that? That reminds me of the guys in the military who hate it so much, and they get out because they are convinced they can jump right into some other job and make 6 figures. You know what happens, of course you do, because you are the same. You found out that life ain't that easy, and you are all pissed off about it. That's why you are here trying to make Lowe's out to be the Satan of the corporate world. You are probably not even making as much as you were at Lowe's. Oh, yeah I remember you. You said to me last night, "Thank you for choosing McDonald's" as I drove away shaking my head because you are too stupid to get my order right.
Yeah, I know this is going to whip you up into a frenzy and you are going to call me all sorts of names and talk about how I kiss ass and buy into all the corporate crap. It's okay, go ahead. I have said my piece and that will be the last of it. And the reason is this. The best way to deal with idiots like you is to ignore them and that is what I will do from now on. POOF!!! You are no longer in my world. Have a nice life and GET OVER YOURSELF!!!!!!!!
