We have a specialist who just came to our store from Home Depot, one of the best employees we have. According to this employee, Home Depot is pretty much the same (both bad qualities and...bad qualities), except a little better organized. That's because they've been doing the hourly manager and specialist thing (in our area) for a while. Still, between companies there's little difference in morale or management. Both are terrible.

what type of weekly meetings does lowes have. for example, at HD there is a sales and leadership each week, ops meeting each week, and an infocus meeting now once a month.
what meetings do hourly associates go to and what meeting does management attend?
thanks, your replies are very helpful

At our store, management has a meeting every Tues, then they call in dept heads. Sometimes they last for 3-4 hours, which is a pain to try and find an MOD, but it seems to help them do a better job. Sales specialists also have a weekly meeting; training twice a month for all employees with vendors, learn how to SOS, do installs sales (not mandatory but encouraged) and cashiers/head cashiers, RTM, Credit co-ordinater and Admin mgr once a month. Hate the 6 am start time (even on your day off!!) but it's a good time to learn some stuff and even air out some grief! Rock on!

At our store they attempt to have a specialist meeting once a week. We used to have department manager meetings every other week or so, but none now for a while. It doesn't matter, really, because at our store department manager meetings are basically upper management gripe sessions with little to no input from department managers. And if they do offer input, they're usually berated for it. I've seen this too many times to count, under different store managers and different upper management teams.
