There is an article on the following link about Shareholder Rights - towards the bottom of the article are 6 points that you click on individually - at the bottom of each point is a poll - please consider reading this article and participating in the poll - the Motley Fool also encourages readers to post or write them an email about this particular subject - it has been a long, long, long time since I have posted anything here - I peek in often but don't have anything of value to contribute -THIS I hope everyone will read - shareholder or not!

you might enjoy the postings from their readership which are at the bottom of the page

Mrs DD - you contribute anytime you post. I'm always ready for your 2 cents.
I like the article. I don't think a shareholder's bill of rights will eliminate the politics of a corporate organization but at least you have a say now.
The big thing is that if shareholders can at least submit proposals and pay considerations perhaps someone on the board or in the executive ranks can run with your idea since it's not theirs.
Since a corporation is a political beaurucratic organization alot of execs and board members keep their mouths shut out of fear for their career. It doesn't justify their silence or inaction but it is something that unfortunetly must be dealt with. By getting mandatory feedback many of these execs won't look as bad supporting or going against an idea someone else submitted. In the end you'll still have the narsicistic execs that are worried about how they are percieved by their fellow gang members.
The Sears executives and board members from 1999-2004 are a perfect example of a cigar smoke filled backroom political orgainization supporting their puppet boy the wheelman Alan Lacy as you well know. There were so many hacks in the old Sears Roebuck organization I'm suprised they never formed a white collar union because that's all they did was worry about their job securtiy at all costs.
And mrs dd don't worry about contributing an article your opinion will be just fine.
