An opening for a Best Buy Marketing Executive has a job requirement of 250 Twitter followers. It's bad enough that alot of these companies require a computer just to apply for the most basic of entry level jobs now they're requiring Tweeting skills???
Tweeting or Twitter isn't all it's hyped up to be. They have studies where many Twitters stop tweeting after a few months. Why market to a group that has no sustained interest. I can see making Twitter a job requirement for a senior computer executive but just for a marketing exec. I understand you want to capitalize on that crowd but so do you want to capitalize on the Sunday paper readers, internet users or just plain old word of mouth about great prices and good service.
Retailing is simple:product and price.
I guess if you aint hip to the most modern of technology which requires money which theoretically you already have money so why the heck are you applying for the job in the first place. This type of requirement excludes people who need the job the most and could do a good job.
