Yes, Herald Square.
Why is a contract good enough for Management, but not employees?

That's why WE need a union. One set of rules, level playing field.

We just need to make sure our elected representatives get on board with the EFCA if it's ever introduced.

Unions are a good thing when they do what they were enacted to do...

I caution though to look at the Domestic Auto Makers right now. The unions are totally to blame for the problems at General Motors and to a lesser extent Chrysler.

The price of automobiles is insane, and the price of the "supposed" production is even worse. Some people without a degree are being paid to go in there and make $30-$100 an hour to push buttons. To me this is insulting when I work my but off as a teacher to make a fraction of what some auto workers make for a tenth of the work. No matter how you look at it, the UAW is a big part of the problem in Detroit right now, and here in the south where a lot of the manufacturing jobs are located, it continues to be evident of what dangers of what "greedy" unions can cause.

I am a member of 2 separate unions myself, and I don't agree with a lot of what our unions do, but I can see some of the changes they have helped to make in my profession.

If a union was installed at Macy's, it needs to be considered what it's responsibilities are and it should be heavily monitored to ensure that what it does is fair in the interests of the worker while protecting the corporation. Thats NOT what has happened in a lot of a cases. In the end I personally believe that the union has ended up hurting the people that they were designed to protect.

Case in point - look at Toyota - YES they are hurting right now, but they are non-unionized and aren't on the brink of disaster. BMW, KIA, Hyundai, Mercedes, and soon Volkswagen all have assembly factories that are in this area and as non unionized facilities, they seem to have much less issues.

All of my problems are history now that I am going to work at the new Macy's Walt Disney World. I don't need a union now.

Hey guys, the Regional VP's are losing their company provided cars. I wonder if Terry will lose his make-up artist? Whoever that person is, he or she needs to pick a better shade of bronzer for him. Remember the first generation of self tanners, the ones that made you look orange? Well that is what he looks like.

They could probably cut a lot more of their "perks"! Ours fly to stores that would only be a 3 hour drive! I don't think Terry has had to give up anything!!!

Rumor has it that Terry's longtime 70% Macy's discount will be reduced to 68.7%, starting in June.

But he can still use coupons.

He's got the same make-up artist as Congressman John Boehner. (pronounced boner) Or maybe the same tanning salon?

That makeup artist will never work again. Would you let him/her do YOUR makeup? I prefer NOT to look like a bronzed wax dummy.
