Anyone else who works at HD as embarrassed as I am by our present wave of advertising? Look. . .I have nothing against folks buying things they need. . .even things they want, up to a point. But I am sick and tired of the suspended adolescence we propogate in this country in order to sell masses of junk folks don't need, especially to folks who can't afford said junk.

Some of the present HD advertising:

( over the store paging system ) "Is there something you want?
I say, buy it now and pay for it later!" Terrific. . .encourage irresponsible spending.

"Looking for an excuse to replace your old lawnmover. . .?"
. . not "Do you need a new lawnmower."

I love this one. . .the T.V. add: "Tired of your old tools?" accompanied by images of drills and saws being thrown out onto roadways and out of garages, etc. This is an awesome message, both from the standpoint of conservation of resources AND responsible disposal!!

Thanks, ad dept., for making us look like irresponsible, consciousless Bozos.

With that type of advertising its a no wonder i have not been to a home depot in years.. First of all "Is there something you want? I say, buy it now and pay for it later!" this type of a advertising would turn me off of a item and make me just leave the store.. Because it is truely saying "we dont give a dang about you... we just want your money.. or if you dont buy it now you will regret it.." then there is this "Looking for an excuse to replace your old lawnmover. . .?" . . not "Do you need a new lawnmower." this is telling the customers what to do and saying if you want to stay with mower then go on ahead.. Do you need a new lawnmower would also turn me off for two reasons..

1 the customers are put under sales pressure by the employee..
2 it turns customers off very fast and it puts the employees in a bad spot which would tell the customer or customers that all HD cares about is the amount of money the customer wants to spend..

just the two reason i have given you would make me leave and not return at all.
