The two groups share a business culture in which groups of independent merchants are formed to promote the interests of members. RONA's agreement with ITM includes a key strategic dimension which involves pooling of purchases for specific lines of hardware products. I'd be curious to hear some vendor perspectives on negotiating purchases with rona et al.

This allowed Revy to recognize local trends and demands. For instance cedar is huge on the west coast for fences, sheds and decks while out east ( and even the praries) other products are prefered (metal sheds, chainlink, etc). We lost our "local" touch with these national gymics.

It won't be long before we're selling laminated bamboo 2*4's from China that have been milled in Bangladesh, packaged in Zimbabwe and imported by a French company utilizing Czech carriers. I guess it's a good thing we have one of those "melting pot" cultures.

All the made in china stuff that looks really cheap... I cant belive people still buy it, its so obvious that it isnt going to last as long as you think it should, so why do people still buy it ?

All western Candian ie Marble factory, Sunmar cut to hell or takin out so we can carry more cheap crap
