Footie,
I think it may be too early to say we have turned the corner. The company will need to put together a string of consecutive months of sales increases before I would say the corner has been turned. If you listen to most on this board we still face many challenges within the stores. The plan may be in place, but follow through needs to happen at all levels to make this baby run.

I agree. I think we needs to have some sort of a sale increase inorder to say yeah we are back and we are a force to be reckon with.

Keep in mind, I'm not asking if "we're back". I'm asking if we've bottomed out.... and in the beginning stages of the turnaround.

Well footie like so many times that you have quoted my polls reflecting peoples opinions. Well it seems that the majority of people that have taken your pole do not believe that the worst is over yet. As in we have not bottomed out. Remember everyone if we are a union they will be forced to listen to us. Without one we depend solely on the higher ups to do what is right for all of us. Do you really want to put your financial future in someones hands other than your own. ?

Stock is up from the cuts and sale of credit!!!! Cuts boost stock very simple. This is not a fix for what ails us making our store one where they customer wants to shop. They still need to look beyond Lands End for the miracle. Bring in more merchandise for one stop shopping like things we got rid of!! A customer can not even get a single screw or nail in the store anymore. Sporting goods we need to be more versatile and let go of the dream of Lands End if we are to survive BC cannot do it alone

At least the Union will put some of the money and benefits back in our pockets, that's more then we can say for Sears management.

It take a long time and a lot of distance to turn around a supertanker at sea. Sears is a big slow supertanker of retail but it does appear to be changing course.
Wait, is that an iceberg on the starboard bow?

Your money wouldn't be in the hands of "Union Bosses" Footie. A union is only as good as the members make it or as bad as they let it get. A Union can only be as corrupt as the Company they negotiate with. Good reputable Unions only make it more expensive for a company to treat its employee's unfairly. They in no way control the company's money. As long as the members elect the officers, they control how good or bad a union is. The exception is where a union is paid off by a corrupt company, and I can't even give an example of that , though I'm sure it has probably occurred.

How could we have turned the corner , when we are still in Sears Sigma......
Do the poll when they are done with that sh*t.
Then maybe , I would feel better about a turn around ....
Oh, wait.... I thought you were asking about the moral of the stores.... But your not right? You want to know if we are at a turn around with the stock prices?
I do not believe we are at any sort of turn around just yet or if there will ever be a turn around.
I don't believe in Sears right now and I am ashamed to tell people that I work there and for how long and at what pay.
On a postive note, I believe Alan will receive a bonus at the end of the year for the Sale of Sears' credit card business that he screw up way back when he controlled it.

I am in a leadership position. For obvious reasons, that is as specific as I will get.
You correctly picked up on the fact that I believe our problems can only be solved by working together, Management and Rank in File to:
- get more customers into our stores with clever, effective
marketing.
- fill the stores with quality, trendy, attractive product
(hardlines and softlines) at reasonable prices that the
customers want to purchase.
- treat the customer to a prompt, friendly, pleasant shopping
experience each time they come to our stores.
- close every possible sale.
All of this will win customers back and can be done without the need for a disinterested third party (insert union).

Wall street seems to have the 'attitude' that we are doing something right....
So why don't we all have the same attitude?
Attitude is what it's all about.......very few believe me, but it's true.

Ok, I agree with what you are saying. If Sears could just get back to what we know and take care of the customer. We are so far away from that right now. The central cash registers were the worst idea at the worst time. Customer want to see us. I don't buy this crap that this is what the customer wanted.People have genuine questions on housewares and drapery and yes those stores that have self selct mattress dept, still can't figure that one out, anyway, Iwould love to talk to Mr Crosby, he seems to care, but as others have said is it little to late.

Footie I have even posted on Alan on line, why do we not try to close in more on our loyal customers by offering Senior Citizen day once a week. We use to send them the seniors coupon books which we have stopped. This was very upsetting to them. When customers called on there Mature coupon books they were told that they were working on that. I believe that was two years ago, did it get lost in the wind or what? I say we need to do more for our seniors

We've turned the corner alright, the problem is we're going the wrong way down a one way street.
While we're looking at building stand alone stores, Wal Mart is looking into opening up new stores in malls and the malls are giving the great deals on rent because they need the foot traffic that Wal Mart will bring back. Targets doing the same thing !

I read that post and I believe that they said next yr they would be doing something. But your right, Kohl's does a senior thing, and many of our loyal customers are seniors.

At our store it's because we only (no offence to 40s 50s and 60 lovers) play music for the seniors......
Most of the younger generation like up to date music.....
Why can't people understand what music can do to you?
