This must be the best kept information in the history of Sears. No one is talking about it. I don't think other associates understand the impact this could have in stores. Fine Jewelry is one of the places Sears makes money. Brand Central is first, Credit and then Fine Jewelry. That information is in the annual reports stockholders receive. Hopefully, the changes will not impact the associates incentives to sell, because it is usually much harder to sell a $1000.00 braclet than a washer or stove as the customer really has no need for the item.

I thought I read somewhere that it only effected large market stores. I'll pull it up again and look. Better yet, I'll ask the FJ lead!

Our lead denies knowing anything......said she had not heard a word of this until I asked her. We are a million dollar a year department, so I would imagine it would affect us.

In hot news, it said if your store does over 500k in sales annually you are to go to an hourly job code 7. If your store does under 500k, you go to a $6.50 base plus 3-3.75% commission. This is supposed to take place August 3rd for fine jewlery and sometime in september for footwear. I'm not sure what the base+commission is for shoes.

I have been working very little, so I still have heard nothing regarding any of the supposed changes for our department. what is the job code 7?

Beats the crap out of me what job code 7 is. It is an HR code, but it is hourly. I thought I had it backwards too, but no, it's right. The base + commission folks will be in the lower volumn stores, unless they typed it backwards in the hr hot news.

Base + in stores over $500,000, job code 7 under.

You're probably right. It's the arrow thingy they used that threw me. >$500,000 vs. <$500,000. I guess I got them mixed up.

Confused I apologize for beating a "dead horse",but I want to make sure I have this right. If the department sells less than$500,000 per year the salary will be 6.50 + commission, if more than $500,000, the salary will be hourly and no commission? Someone answer this and I promise to let it go. Sorry, but as I said in one of the other threads, we are never given any information in our store, and this is the only way I hear anything. Doh!

You have it backwards....

greater than $500,000 and it's the base + commission, less than and it's straight hourly. Job code 7 is used as the basis for the hourly.

If you work in FJ, you should already had a meeting with your ASM or SGM, or both.
