http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040814/sp_wl_afp/oly_2004_box_nzl_040814145526 .A boxer from New Zealand who was convicted of manslaughter in the death of a 5 month old and had other CRIMINAL offenses was choosen for the team.It would have been a better story if they showed how he HELPED the team rather than become part of team by acting as a moving punching bag for practice. And let us not forget that whole region of Austrailia and New Zealand was founded by PRISONERS-I think we have an example for Eugenics proponents.

If you had doubts about security at the Olympics... you were right.

Olympic organizers boost security after Canadian fan leaps into pool

Olympics organizers have increased security at all sports venues after an unidentified Canadian spectator plunged into a swimming pool during a diving competition.

The man, bare-chested and sporting a blue tutu, scampered onto the pool deck and climbed to an adjoining diving board during the men's synchronized three-metre springboard event on Monday.

He jumped into the pool after about a minute atop his perch and was immediately apprehended by security officials at the Olympic Aquatic Centre.

If someone in a bright purple tutu and polka dotted tights has no trouble getting by security, genuine trerrorists, dressed in everyday attire, should have no problems whatsoever.

In defense of the true Olympian this prankster wanna be messed up the dive of several teams/members.At least 4 years of work and anticipation and to have that tossed by an attention deprived my mommy didn't breast feed me case of social malfesense...-I hope the penalities are of Olympic proportions. The whole thing has become so self indulgent.

The athletes were promised security and peace of mind. The security outfit failed miserably and should be fined and punished as well, for lying to the athletes. There's enough blame to go around the table.
