It is well that some of us are here... it will allow those with drivel to not be able to figure out the navigation... Thank you to the individuals behind the front names for providing the best alternative to keep Sears employees on every level... powerful.
RW did not sell you out, they just ran out of money... I know a lot of you feel left standing cold because of the somewhat irrational moves of the last days of RW.com, but sometimes things get too heavy for some people
Keep the pressure on your local managers... they must come out of the fear mentality they have been in.... they NEED your support..... Please give it to them so we all can save this company...
This is the last chance for Sears folks..... if the HA relaunch (and I don't use the term lightly or tritely) doesn't work, Sears is done in a few years... Don't let it die....
Compared to some of you, my tenure is short.... compared to your dedication, I am unequalled. Please save this company... You are all it has left.

RW said it was not about money at all. I have a letter personally sent by him to me explaining the reasons. Send me a PM and I will send it to you.

The original Retailworker.com was indeed funded in kind by a labour organization. This is not an issue.
The Sears forum derailed any hope of the original forum being a springboard for a labour union. That is a fact.
Sears will choke to death before it becomes union. That is my opinion

Why did the sears forum derail any hopes of unionization? Would you mind being more detailed and shed some light on why they believe sears forum was the root cause of its demise ( as in specific examples) I am not trying to sound rude or mean i and i am sure many others would like to know what is going on. Could you please shed some light on the issue?

It is a fact that he said money is not an issue! It is another fact that the facts you cite are not the ones given by him.

Body guard can you pm the letter to me. I am curious to see the real reason that they shut down. If it wasnt about money what was it about. Can you please tell us?

The Sears forum exlemified the dynamic of Sears employees... with a company as large as Sears, with an average compensation for persons paid on commisson, (which drive the actual profit of the company, less the credit unit) above the industry benchmark, a union will not suceed.... Most informed people on the forum know this...
An intact organization is required to change compensation and employee protection in this company, and the original RW.com forum made that happen to Sears, and conversely made a labour union untenable in the markets we are in.
As I have always said, KNOWLEDGE STILL, IS POWER.
Everyone please use it and improve on what you already know... we are winning...

Most informed people on this forum know this. So are you saying that since i disagree and think unions can help that i am some how not informed to your standards. Please dont mock me or anyone else on you think is not informed.

derailed any chances of forming a union because it became clear that everyone did not think alike. That people were unique, and wanted unique things. Because of that, no union would have satisfied even the majority of posters, if one were voted in, it would have just given one more authority figure to have grievances with.

If you honestly believe that a union is viable at Sears FLS, bring one into the majority of the locations... it's easier than you think, and not as harmless as some believe...
when you do, I will personally shake your hand and tell you I am wrong.

1538, um, I mean bodyguard, why should we believe that you are so personally close to RW that he/she would divulge any factual information to you? Anyone can say anything. Would you consider yourself to be someone that RW would actually give the real scoop to? Especially considering all the turmoil in the end and the resulting rules that RW had to set down to control the trivial and frivolous chit chat that was dominating what was a serious forum. Whathappenedtosears seems credible to me.

OK here is the letter I got...It was sent in response to one I sent him.
You are not the reason the site ended. People should take the
statement on the homepage at
face value. I have been trying to donate the site to numerous labor
organizations for more than a
year. But even the ones that said yes were dragging their feet so
long that I could not wait any
longer.
So everybody stop the blame game. It's just the case that RW got
tired of waiting and saw no
end in site and had to stop it now before it became even bigger and
harder to stop.
As to recent events on the site, the animosity from ALL sides just
made that decision much easier.
Hopefully, the explosion of new groups and sites will make the
community more long-lasting and
stronger, with more talented and patient webmasters

The blame game? Gee..... who said anything about blame? I didn't bring it up. Defensive? Believe what you like, but that note from RW was not any kind of personal revelation that you are sharing with us. I look at it as a polite answer so as not to offend anyone. I do believe the site had become a burden. Anyway, water under the bridge for us now, sadly, regardless of the reason the site ended. And one step further, I find whathappenedtosears posts to be genuine and well thought out. I feel he has an inside track others wish they had.

Was there or is there anyway the old RetailWorker.com could or would create a canned boilerplate email to all our registered members of that site and direct them here?

Stillthere, I understand that you do not take RWs e-mail at face value, neither do I. But I do not understand what your logic is for believing it came down to money. Please explain the theory to me if you would.

Oh, icki, I don't know enough about the subject to debate it. But I don't think that RW chose bodyguard as his confidant. I am incensed at the thought that bodyguard would want us to believe he was such.

So Stillthere, you are confidant about an opinion you have about the site closure, but not so confidant that you are willing to discuss it? I was just curious is why I was wondering, as I have my own theory and it is not money, I just wanted to see what motivated you to come up with your theory is all to see if yours was more plausable than mine. Don't always assume I want a debate, I really just wanted to see if you had some ideas I hadn't thought of yet.
