Sears adds range to appliances
| Quote: |
In a move aimed at grabbing market share back from such big box rivals as Home Depot and Lowe's, Sears Holdings Corp. said it will become the exclusive national chain supplier of Whirlpool Corp.'s Jenn-Air appliances.

By national chain supplier, do they mean that regional and local outlets will be selling these items?

Hi nofs
I checked the Jenn-Air website and found what looks to be Jenn-Air appliance dealers.
Surprisingly hhgregg is on this list.

I'll be interested to see if stores not part of the 255 being rolled out will be able to order product for their customers.

Jenn-Air products have been sold through independent appliance retailers.
Whirlpool said Jenn-Air appliances will continue to be offered through those outlets. |

This Trib article notes that they might have to adjust the commissions because it's a more "time involved" sale . What the heck have we been telling Sears about commission sales and our TIME,TIME that needs to be taken with many items and customers for years. And Spiffs?
Also notes 1 person from each of the 255 stores to get will be flown to Atlanta for Jenn-Air training. Jenn-Air is paying by the way.
And said appliances accounted for 15% of SHLD sales in 2008.

In Canada Jenn-Air was the first new name in Brand Central that was launched many years ago. They have just announced that we will be dropping the line.

I received an e-mail today at work stating that we will still be able to get the Jenn-Aire slide in range. (at Lowe's) Don't know why we'd want to only sell one piece of an appliance package. I know Whirlpool wants to bring up the name of Jenn-Aire and make it more exclusive...the emails we received was that they wanted it to be more on the level of Viking, Wolfe, Asco, Sub-Zero. I'm good with that...but they will have to improve the quality of their products. Many of the customers with whom I've chatted hate the jenn-aire products that they have in their homes. The brochure we had to offer customers had a couple of items for each product group. Very sad.
Enjoy, that will only push people in this economy toward the big box stores for better values on regular WP products.
I'm interested in how this goes for Sears.
