stabbed, some folks are already getting out while they can. There have had several retirements in the last 2 months and I mentioned in another post that due to work related stress, 2 people have actually died. Two good, long term people with at least 30 years in. Mad Sad that this happened to both people. They did not have to suffer like they did. One had 2 more years before he could retire. Mad

Stress some people turn it inward - others outward - in my store the managers are stressed and taking it out on their best people - and keeping the call offs and do nothings. Poor judgment on their parts. Simple schedule the call offs and do nothings the fewest hours - not the other way around. It would sure relieve the managers stress and serve customers better too.

I think you might have a valid lawsuit if you were ousted due to be near your pension or if you had just turned 40 or were close to it - though I see 50 being the age they really get upset about too.

They have no problem with text talking/twittering - friends hanging out teenagers.

Interesting how I go in to other retail places and actually see sales people NOT using their cell phones - and they are teenagers.

So obviously some other retail places DO have different rules than Sears.

Luis, the last 2 years have been rough on a lot of people. I've seen more people get shafted due to little crap while all the a$$ kissers seem to get a free ride. I've seen the managers literally hide in their offices and have little interaction with the associates and yet, they claim to have that ever-so-famous "Open Door Policy". If they would get off their butts every now and then and talk to associates, then some things might not occur while those things that should occur, well, should occur. There are associates that have incurred some problems due to lack of work, low morale, and other issues that they don't know what to do or where to go for help. This saddens me. These same associates are the ones that need help making ends meet and so on.

At least it sounds like my store isn't the only one with management pretending to be clueless about how to schedule employees or whatever. Lately I have been wondering IF the managers in my store DO want it to close down. They say they want it to stay open - but their actions say otherwise.

I was moved from HA to HI because the new HA mgr was not happy with my PA performance. I was #4 in sales as a part time employee, but my PA sales ranked only 8th out of 18. Really the new inexperienced manager just didn't like me, because I didn't parrot all of the rah rah bull$hit he tried to promote.

I accepted the transfer, sat on my ass collecting MIT pay for two weeks while I trained, and the first day I hit the floor I quit. I already had a new job, and when asked about giving notice I told Sears I gave you as much notice as you gave me regarding the transfer. In a sense I fired Sears. I worked there for about a year and a half. I loved the job and my co workers, but I gotta tell ya Sears is one screwed up company.
Without question one of the worst managed companies I've
ever had the displeasure of being associated with.

Since, I've found the ideal retirement job with great benefits. Best employment move I've ever made!

Best of luck to you- Hopefully there's a better job for you out there than the rat race you were in.

Had I stayed in my position with the company, I have no doubt I would have met the same fate had the stress of working there not killed me.

I've not been to the forum in a while.
Sad to see another great long term employee railroaded out of the company, but USA, you will be much better off.

I wish you the best, USA. One of my colleagues always says, if they would just fire us and get it over we could get on with living.

You're out of the cult. I wish you the very best. I am sure that you will land in a good place. Some words of advice on finding work. Old timers at Sears are very well trained. The marketplace knows it too. You'll interview at a different level than the average joe.

I had three opportunities in unrelated fields that I walked from (call me stupid). they were impressed with my frankness and my ability to analyse and work towards getting the job done. If you've been around, you know what I mean.

Other friends of mine from Hoffman and the field have left by their own volition or Fast Eddie's and have come to be in a better place. The best thing is they are free of that deep nagging angst we live with.

Just be yourself and kill them in interviews. We have the skills, especially outside of retail.

SC and jasd, I'm going to hit the pavement this week and I know my years in at Sears will look good to potential employers. That's a plus. Problem is is finding a comparable job that pays about the same as what I was getting. Most jobs I see are paying $7.25 - $9.00. I could possibly get by with $9 but need $11 or greater. Dern pay cuts. Doh!

I hear ya on that one USA#1...I've been hitting the pavements myself trying to find another job...ain't easy, but I'm going to get out of S-hole come hell or high water. With the way Sears is going right now, it may be the high water..thank god I know how to swim! Rock on!
