Hi there just a note to let you all know There Is Life After Sears!! I left in May as you may have read my post then and went to a local Appliance retailer and much to my surprise I have sold the same dollar amounts per month and as many P/A's.We price match Sears and we do have Same Day Delivery. At my new store all the manufacturer's have spiffs!!So I get on average $1,100.00 per month just for selling products that we all sold at Sears without spiffs. So where did all those dollars go? Hummmm?? Anyway I went to the sears.com site several times and in checking prices they may have one price for Sears and one or two other prices avaliable and it redirects me to another web site. What gives here?? Anyone know and can fill me in on this topic? Oh by theway I have never been asked by my employer to convert a credit card to a store card so no fear of a PPI here...

Glad it's working out well. How are the PA prices compared to Sears? How is your overall pay? Local appliance retailers might be the place to go for many Sears employees.

Sears used to allow associates to participate in manufacturer spiff programs. When I started at Sears I sold HE. Christmas time alone I would make 8-10k alone in manufacturer spiffs. The line the company gave on discontinuing participation in manufacturer spiffs was that people were focusing on selling customers what ever paid the best spiff and not the best product for the customer. What Sears failed to realize, and still fails to realize is that a comission based pay does the EXACT same thing. The associate is going to try to sell to the customer what pays them the best.
I am sure that somewhere there is some type of bottom line incentive for Sears not to participate in spiff programs.
After 18 years at Sears myself, I finally got out in January 2007, and I can echo the statement that there IS life after Sears, and I have never ran into anyone that left Sears taht regretted the decision. Too bad too. My first 10 years or so were very enjoyable.

Well I will make between $60-$70K next year if all the sales stay close to what it is now. Your expierence is your Resume, I did 31+ years and did over $1.2 Million in sales for at least 11 of my last 12 years (had time out 1 year for surguery) and P/A's of over $90-$110 K per year, but I didn't open as many new accounts as I should have I was like 65 short for last year. You can ask for vacation time and health benefits as well your clients will follow you as well and thats big for a local company. Oh and P/A prices are well below Sears prices.Good luck the ship is sinking..

Happy for you searsnorcal. I may be on the list on the Sears axe list. They are coming up with petty ass things to fire people over and I found out tonight I'm being investigated for something. Not good, especially with the economy the way it is right now. Guess I'd better start looking...

You're not the only one...our store is soooo petty it's not even funny. Every time someone gets paged the first thing I think of is what did they do now...I think 98% of the store got in trouble for something stupid...me included. The other 2% are the pets and as usual, they get away with murder. There should be a petty ass investigation club for us. And congrats to you searsnorcal!!!

Glad you had a successfull escape searsnarcol
Curious when you say convert credit card to store card do you mean your personal cc to a store card or the customers. I know Alwyn signed a letter asking employees to apply for Sears cards they did not have. Someone bungled the wording on the letter. Newbies thought they would get a discount every use; Citi had to send out a disclaimer letter saying check with local policy on credit cards & discount policy.
USA sounds like they smell to many years and unemployment benefits building up. Can't have that now-loyalty,time,experience etc

I know DR. They are trying to get rid of the old-timers like me by coming up with stupid things to investigate. Problem that I have is that there are some folks that have done worse things than me and still have a job and they have also targeted those who show up everyday and work their butts off and for what? A kick on the back side. They've already outsourced some of the jobs and I imagine there are more to come.
