They can't make you bring in a dr's note unless you are out for three days in a row.
Here, Dr's offices are telling people not to come in to the office unless you are gravely ill! They don't want your swine flu germs! The test for swine flu is $300.00, so most people don't even get tested.

My music teacher said STAY HOME IF YOU'RE SICK.
problem with this is that the class is sooo good, I don't want to miss any of it.

it is unusual when i do call out, but last summer i did. it was only a day, i think, but my manager at the time told me i needed to bring in a doctor's note when i returned. i was only out a day - sheesh. i was going to the doctor anyway... so i got the note... and did anyone even ask for a note ??/ no...but i dropped it off anyway at the office. they really thought i was faking it cuz it was a saturday. do they ask the newbies to bring in a note or the students ?? NOOOOOOOOOOO.
you're right about the swine flu tho. they said our state doesn't do the swine flu test routinely and that our state DOES NOT HAVE enough vaccines for it anyway.

Normarae, I called out on a Saturday, and my manager told me that I had to have a dr's note. I was so sick, throwing up every hour. I had to drive myself to the dr. as sick as a dog. Since it was Saturday, I couldn't go to my dr, I had to go to one of those urgent care places. The Dr. wrote me out of work for the rest of the w/e. I felt fine the next day, it was just a virus, but I couldn't work b/c the dr. wrote me out, AND I got sick pay. So, demanding a note really backfired on my manager!
Then I later found out that you do not have to provide a dr's note unless you are out for 3 days in a row. Most people don't go to the dr when they are sick one day!
