Listen, here's the real deal LOWES IS JUST AN OVER GLORIFIED KMART.
All you need to do is bust ass to keep yourself off the radar screens, and looking pretty buff, and try to date all the little hottie cashiers and walls and windows reps. It'll keep ya going till you get a much better job.

Nope, just goes to show what some in the competition are beginning to use as comparison. Read what this person has said again and compare it to what is going on at Kmart and Sears. Are they folowing the example at most of the stores now, or is Lowes breaking new ground?

Why don't you post a link to the article or thread you're referencing and we can get a better idea of what the context is? Is this a post in a thread, a quote from an article... or what?

gageflame, your a little bit whack-a-do. Of course you know have to know that.
I looked around the Loews site for a while trying to find a link to back you up on this. Can't find it.
Help us out over here? Post the link. OK? Thanks in advance. Best of luck. ~GoodFella

I used to work at Lowes and at the store I was at, the cashiers were basically "prostitute row". Busting ass meant nothing. Kissing ass meant all. Being a homosexual was a real plus. I did NOT visit the cashiers, did NOT kiss as and am NOT a homosexual. Thus I went nowhere.

Here you go, It under the thread Lowes gearing up for Unionizing effort, statement written by Resets or us. GoodFella, I may be a bit whack a do as you say, but the one thing I've always had is a great deal of common sense. No one can pee on my shoe and tell me it's raining if there isn't a cloud in the sky.
As my mother is fond of telling me, this company does not want people who show up when scheduled, and try to do their job. They want those willing to prostitute themselves for like of a better word, to the God of the Hedgefund. The want those willing to run and tattle tale, just to try to cause trouble, especially for those who try to mind their own affairs and do that job. I believe it was here the statement from Mr. Lampert was aired that he wanted younger faces for this company and it looks like to me he's getting them and some of the ridicule and lawsuits which are going along with it.

I don't know if I would go so far as to associate Lowes with Kmart but local politics and policy seem to affect more and more often in retail.
I know before the IWW halted retailworker.com the Lowes board was one of the most active mostly from those seeking promotion or hourly employees.
That's the problem in retail and many other industries with large corporate organizations & multiple locations. And without strong district and/or store management as an employee your screwed. But it all comes back to EQUAL enforcement of company policy and procedure. But then again with the productivity goals of retail it's real easy for scared or weak management to ignore courtesy, policy and plain old common sense when under pressure-the pressure which they VOLUNTEERED for-management in most companies is voluntary.
In a highly political work site/location you eithe have to wait for the politicians to leave or you'll have to leave yourself. Policy and law is supposed to take out personal politics in most organizations but they fail miserably in retail.

Thanks LT,
From unionizing to Kmart analogies- I don't know wether it should be considered thread jacking or wandering.

Why07, people working in retail only have a few places to go. That is why employers recycle employees.

I used to work for Lowe's once upon a time. It was a great place to work until the CEO left. The new CEO was a former Lowe's goon who left for Kmart and came back. Problem was he brought back to Lowe's a bunch of Kmart bologna policies. Lowe's was a horrible place to work when all was said and done after he got done with them.

The thing I noticed about retail management in particular is that most employees either LIKE or totally can't stand their management. The diverse opinions tells me or shows me there is a lack of professionalism in retail from the management in particular.
Too many retail execs along with district and store level management either try to make friends of the employees or they try impose their will like a bully. There should be more middle ground but there isn't. There are too many lap dog Napoleons out for themselves.
Scary part is that friendofmacy's exec at Lowes wanted to use Kmart policy ? -YIKES . Either way you loose. Using prebankrupt Kmart policy you run the risk of a Lowes b k or after you drive the place into the ground like mr ed/the ESL crew. Too many retail execs lack customer/people skills .
In retail you are dealing with PEOPLE. Wether it's the frugality & fickleness of the customer or morale of the employees it takes PEOPLE skills in particular. And yet too many in retail LACK PEOPLE SKILLs and I am NOT talking about a three dollar bill smile or the medicated perkyness of a hospital patient. You need someone who listens AND comperhend or understand-uh oh:not in retail.
