How many of you received lunch on the 4th? I found out that each store was given a budget to have lunches brought in for the day. We didn't have to sign up to bring anything. Which is good because I don't do the potluck thing. You never know how gross some of their homes can be, I've seen their cars and workstations. Just gross.

all stores were given $500 to provide lunch on at least one of the 3 days. The same was true for memorial day weekend. A nice gesture from corporate, IMO.
Corporate is supposedly looking into the stores that didn't provide meals.

I think that it is a nice gesture. I'm just wondering if all stores participated or just ended up with pot lucks.

Our store did provide lunch, yesterday 3 July 2009, but I clocked out, went home for lunch like I always do.
It is so much nicer to be able to get out and away from it all, huh?

A long time ago when gas was cheaper I used to drive home for lunch. the trouble is factoring in the time to go and come back took about 2/3rds of lunch.

I forgot to mention that I'm only about a mile from work, so it works out great for me.

I rarely go into the breakroom There is always some kind of drama going on in someone's life and they are blathering endlessly to anyone that will listen. Or, you have multiple people talking on their cell phones. Not really a break.

I prefer to leave for lunch as well Merlin. I don't like to get involved in the business of others at my store. I doubt that these employees realize that those of us at work don't really give a sh&t about their lives or drama. I am unfortunate enough to have one of those faces that seems to welcome people into telling me all of their innermost secrets. WHY in the heck does this happen? I mean customers and employees seem to do that to me on a daily basis.

People tell me everything too! I used to go home for lunch but i just switched stores. 24 miles one way vs 4 miles one way. I definitely am not eating in the break room.

Oh it was soooooo nice of Lowe's to provide lunch from the kindness of their hearts...... My ASS, How much do they rake in from the vending machines from associates? Nice to just get a little of the associate money back!
