COLUMBIA, S.C. - After going AWOL for seven days, Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday that he'd secretly flown to Argentina to visit a woman with whom he'd been having an affair. He apologized to his wife and four sons and said he will resign as head of the Republican Governors Association.

Here's a screen shot of FOX News where once again, when a Republican gets caught with his pants down they "accidentally" mislabel his party affiliation. Note the letter after his name? This is no accident. Only FOX does it on a regular basis and they do it often enough for it to be noticeable.
"Fair and Balanced" my shiny metal ass!

OK, so how does Limbaugh handle it when it's a Republican that's been caught with his britches flappin in the breeze in the middle of the winter in Rio??? Why, like this of course.
Limbaugh On Sanford Affair: "Republicans Like Sex, Too"
http://mediamatters.org/items/200906240031
Quote:
After the next commercial break, Rush returned with commentary on the breaking news of the moment: that Gov. Sanford admitted to having an affair. Sounding rather disappointed, el RushBo's initial reaction was that "Republicans like sex, too." He continued, saying this was "inexplicable" and "unthinkable," but also explaining that "lust" is the one thing you can't control. And, of course, as always, Rush used the opportunity to lash out at Democrats: "But I'll tell you what: If he were a Democrat, it'd be a resume enhancement. It has been a resume enhancement for many years. If he were a Democrat, James Carville and Paul Begala would be out attacking this woman today; we'd find out who she was; she'd be plastered all over as trailer trash."
And if he were a Dem, old Rushbo and every other right wing talking head on the air would be screaming for him to quit, resign, be impeacehed or outright shot, hung and quarterd of drug through the streets behind a 4wd Pickup with a rifle rack and a Sarah Palin bumper sticker. Elliot Spitzer anyone?
Quote:
Oh, and it's worth noting -- not that we're geography or bossa nova snobs or anything -- that while Rush repeatedly joked that Sanford went down to Ipanema, Ipanema is actually in Brazil, and Brazil is not in Argentina.
Quote:
After another break, Rush closed out the program with more commentary on Sanford. When Republicans come out with affairs, said Rush, no one catches them. He also observed that Ensign and Sanford announced their affairs without their wives out their side, unlike Eliot Spitzer. Then Rush played the audio of "infobabe" Kyra Phillips' "hissy fit," saying that Phillips "probably defended" Bill Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal. So there's the logic, if it can be called that -- Phillips "probably defended" Clinton, therefore she can't say anything about Sanford. Rush can't be bothered to actually, you know, check anything that Phillips said, because there's a "point" to be made that can't be encumbered by "facts."
So... once again, pots call kettles black, double standards are set and El Rushbo hacks up a hairball of hypocrisy that would choke a damned good horse.
Life goes on and all's right with the world.

I've been reading excerpts from some of his emails... turned out the newspaper had been sitting on them for months. The man could wax poetic when it was needed.

I think this is really nothing new.
It only seems like more because more is being exposed.
These guys gotta learn they have NO privacy anymore.

Just shows that human imperfection and behavior knows no party affiliation.
Also, Nofs, the Fox News picture is hilarious. They'll do anything....are people really that dumb to buy into it? I can't for the life of me see why anyone actually watches that drivel...half of it isn't even legit.

Whatever it takes to boost the ratings, I guess.
Actually, I just got a blurb in one of my feeds that he's blaming the entire Sanford thing on Obama now. Guess I need to go read that one.

Yup. I was wondering how he'd manage to spin this one into blaming the prez and now I know.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/25/limbaugh-blames-sanfords_n_220993.html
Also, quite a few Republicans are now trying to paint the affair as possibly a good thing, both for Sanford and the Republicans. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting dizzy from all these different spins.
The man was cheating on his wife, she threw him out of the house, he went to his mistress after lying to everyone in sigh, got onje last dip in the pool and then came back and claimed he was giving it up. End of story.
Same old thing a lot of peasants and commoners do only nobody tries to turn it into a "good thing" or blame it on the president.
I guess if you are rich (or at least your society wife is), you're a big shot politician and you can afford to have your affairs in a whole 'nother country that's different. That's when you have old Roly Poly contradicting himself on an hourly basis to try to spin it to his own advantage.
Quite a different attitude than Old Rash had back when it was Weasel Willie Clinton playing the game... or any other Dem ever got caught. My God, they're still harping on John Edwards and his political career is (rightfully) over and done with.

This is just a case of anothe oppurtunist taking advantage of a situation. But in a sense that's a true politician ; making it work for them. And what I mean that is that this guys CAREER was an oppurtunity and not a career. It might have been the lesser of 2 evils or something he let himself get manuevered into but did he really want to become a politician at the state/possibly the national level-I say NO.
This guy is just another example of someone working A job. A true carreerist would have never gone this far. But isn't that why most work-for a job and NOT a career.
If he was willing to sacrifice a career and marriage that tells me he was a very unhappy man with messed up priorities. But being politician he made you believe this is what he wanted to do for you-give me a break.
This is a question we all must ask - Am I working or looking for A job or A career or A life .

I'm with you Calapso.
But my one bright spot is how much deeper Limbaugh keeps digging his hole.
He's loudest squealer at the slaughter.

As you probably know, by whatever twisted sense of logic that governs his piggy little brain, the bloated one managed to connect... that's the word I',m going to use, "connect"... Michael Jackson's death with President Obama?
He didn't actually say it was Obama's fault... even he knows better than to leave himself and his defenders without an out... just that Jackson had "flourished" under Reagan and "languished" under Clinton/Bush but he DIED under Barack Obama. (For some reason he left out Bush 41 entirely but who pays attention to details when hype is the object anyway)?
That's all that's needed for his many of loyal dittohead sycophants... who DON'T know better than that... to connect the dots, no matter how damned far apart they are or what kind of convolutions they have to go through to get them hooked up. There are people out there now who honestly believe that President Obama caused Michael Jackson's death.
And if that wasn't his intention, why voice so stupid a screed in the first place?
Poor Rushie... it must be hell having to come with something every day that's even dumber and more hateful than the hate stirring propaganda you dribbled down your chin the day before. But when you make millions solely for being the number one shit stirrer on radio, you have to keep expanding the old repertoire or someone's gonna take you down.
