Blah, blah, blah...We continue to monitor events and will take actions necessary to support our efforts to remain a strong, productive, and successful organization.
(get this)
An important requirement for long-term financial stability is expense control; careful management of expense today will be key to our success when the economy recovers.
Okay, HOW is paying Terry Lundren millions of dollars, plus millions more in ridiculous perks "expense control"????

Haven't seen anything like that here... Was this shared at the store, or did you receive a copy via USPS at home? If so, would you mind sharing a bit more with us?
And in answer to your question: Inspirational, natural gorgeousness like Terry ain't cheap, sister.

I think they cut back from 2 make up artists on stand -by to one make up artist on stand- by.

I got the letter today also in the mail. It talks about macys hardship like MAYcylady said, and because of that they are cutting our 401 k match from 33 1/3% to 10 %.

yup, got the letter also today. i am confused, tho. the money match was a 33 1/3 CENTS per dollar match.
but they were always paying up to 10% of your contributions anyway. i don't get it.

No letter here. But I did hear that they will be taking a 30/hr full time position and making 2 part-time positions. don't like that.

My letter came on Friday the 13th and told the expected news that our company match would only be 10% starting in 2010 . Norma, the match is paid only on the first 5% of the contributions which we make to the plan so they will be giving us almost nothing. What a surprise, huh?

I am going to stop contributing to profit sharing. The money will be of more use to me in my paycheck than sitting in Macy's account for them, while I get a measly one time 10%! I would end up with more by just puting it in my savings account. I thought that the 33 1/3 percent was cheap, and now this?
When we were Mayco, the match was dollar for dollar. One year it was $1.19 per dollar!
I don't call 10%, or even 33 1/2 % a MATCH!
Can anyone tell me how to use the new ML site?

MACYlady, i FINALLY sat down and viewed the whole CD (for computer) that macy's provided for all the new profit sharing stuff. it explains how to use the Merrill Lynch site as well. even the insite site will link it to the ML site if you need. you have to make up a password, user name, etc. , with soc sec number and date of birth, etc. did not go further from there but talked to a rep. (since the changeover in september i haven't been able to find out my balance or make ANY changes. ). i thought FOR SURE i had probably lost at LEAST $10,000 or more -who knew ? i used to check the balance EVERY day. i kept myself in the dark.
when she told me my balance, i almost fell off the chair. i didn't lose ANY money. in fact, i made about $300 total. just got my statement yesterday as well. wow. turns out, being in the dark helped me for once. most of it was in Money MArket anyway. only 1% had been in macy's stock for a long time. go figure.
but to get to the merrill lynch site, you can go to: www.benefits.ml.com or as i said, insite or employeeconnection will take you there as well. hope this helps. norma

Yeah, I did all that, but I can't figure out how to change how much I am contributing.
Mine didn't loose anything either, and I'm like you, I used to check it every day but haven't been able to b/c of the change. I didn't have any in Macy's, thank goodness!
