Circuit City announced today that it will be liquidating and closing down its stores.
Ha haaaaa ha ha ha ha...
Ive been saying it! Ive been saying it ever since I quit there! A bunch of drunk monkeys were running that company, and now its dead! Ha haaa!
I personally knew it was the beginning of the end when they named their new in-home tech service "Firedog." The day thay came to change the logo's on my car was the day I quit. I knew then they had screwed up irrocovably.
People said, "Have faith in the company man! Some really smart people at the top thought this was a good idea!" Yep, some incompetent educated fools somehow sold these turds-of-ideas to upper management, and they went for it, and now they are paying the price for their idiocy. May they never work in corporate management again, and may they end up selling TV's at a Best Buy somewhere.

There's nothing funny about it, IMO. 30,000 people will be out of a job.

This is probably doing them a favor though, and retail jobs are pretty much always in demand so they will be able to get work somewhere else pretty quickly, or go on unemployment.
I am laughing at the arogent execs that thought their plan for Circuit City was the best plan ever, while those of us who thought it lacked common sense were ignored. Guess who was right...

I happen to agree with vickers
With one gone, yes less competition, but also more competition in the employment field
Im hoping the country doesnt lose too many jobs before this recession is over.

All the people I used to work with at the city are now gainfully employed elsewhere now. CC is not the kind of place you work for a career anyway - it is more of a job in between jobs or a job until you find THE job. The turnover at CC was so high that the majority of the people working there were going to be somewhere else within a year anyway. Retail management is a very in-demand job. For the average Joe, retail work may be slightly more difficult to find becuase of CC going out of business, but is still a much easier field to find work in than others. Becuase they are experienced electronics retail workers, competitors are more likely to give them preference in hiring, so I dont think it will take too long for them to find work.
However many jobs are lost in the recession, Im sure we will all come out OK. Maybe we wont live in as nice of a house or drive as nice of a car. Maybe all of our credit ratings will be trashed. We will make it though. As long as we have food and a roof over our head, we are still doing better than 1/5 of the worlds population and have no reason to whine.
